About Us

The Global Business and Human Rights Scholars Association (BR2R) was founded by Michael Santoro (Santa Clara University, Leavey School of Business) and Anita Ramasastry (University of Washington Law School) as a non-profit, non-partisan association dedicated to promoting global interdisciplinary scholarship. 

Mission Statement

The Global Business and Human Rights Scholars Association aims to:

Unite Global Scholars


Bring together a global and interdisciplinary group of scholars with an interest in business and human rights.

Foster high-level scholarship and analysis of law, policy and practice in business and human rights.

Support emerging scholars, including those from the Global South.

Promote Research & Teaching


Disseminate research on business and human rights.

Promote research on business and human rights with a regional focus, including in languages other than English.

Encourage teaching in a range of disciplines on the topic of business and human rights.

Raise Awareness


Raise awareness of the human rights and other potentially harmful impacts of business activity.

Promote respect for international human rights among states, business enterprises and other organizations.
